Beginning in 1922, Davenport’s WOC has charted an impressive list of broadcasting firsts: the first licensed commercial radio station west of the Mississippi River; first station to establish logging, the practice of recording program schedules down to the minute and second; the use of time signals at the beginning of programs; first to build and use audio mixing controls that allowed multiple microphone usage; first to broadcast from a state legislature; and first to broadcast programming meant specifically for children. WOC-TV was the first television station in Iowa on the air when it began regular programming in 1949

He has authored two books on the history of local broadcasting and Rock Island County in the Images of America series. Coopman is a former employee of the WOC stations, a former teacher, past president of the Rock Island County Historical Society, and a local history buff.

The Lockridges were more noted for mystery novels, but this nonfiction offering is well worth reading. This is a wonderful version of The Night Before Christmas. His smile beamed throughout the day and he seemed to possess more than enough high-spirited energy for each individual in the seminar, and there must have been more than 50 of us in attendance.We did some basic postures, movements and breathing together, as most of the seminar attendees had some background in taiji or yoga, and then he put on some music and turned us loose for a completely free form period where everyone moved spontaneously and intuitively, based on the energy within, around and between us. Now to be fair I haven't read very many but it doesn't matter. Makes me suspect that they work for the publisher or writer.. Many unanswered questions were answered in this novel and the writing was excellent.
